Deadly deception (The News Journal)

Two guns: One is very real, the other looks just the same

Nothing can drag an airsoft game into an afternoon of arguing and bickering like a player who won't admit when he has been shot. It's the death of an airsoft game. In fact, it's the biggest reason that paintball players consider their game superior to airsoft.

The guy was right, more arguments are started that way than by a guy not calling his hit. I know it's not earth shattering information. But I thought it was a very accurate point and something all airsoft players could relate to. Since that day, we have stopped doing that. The result has been less bickering and oddly enough, more honesty with players calling their hits.

At a recent airsoft game my team attended, the host was going over the ground rules and brought something to my attention. I found it interesting because it's something I have been guilty of more than once. The point was calling the other guys hit. In other words, saying," I got you!" That is a pretty common phrase at my local games.

Airsoft is a game of honor. Without honesty, it's no different than pointing a wooden gun at an opponent and saying, "bang", like you did when you were a child. Remember those games? All we did was argue in those days.
